NORMAN J. POPPE

     Norman John Poppe was born Feb. 25, 1932, to John and Elsie Poppe (nee Hemp). He was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe, WI. Norman attended the Worchel School in the town of Seif.  After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1955, he married Ardith Florence Suckow in May of 1959. Together, they farmed until they retired in 1993. After retiring and moving to a house south of Christie, Norman worked for the city of Neillsville for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 73.

     Norman is survived by his wife, Ardith, and children: Dennis (Cheryl) Poppe of Eau Claire, Jerry (Marie) Poppe of Brookfied, Kathy (Ron) Talford of Menomonie, and Sherri (Pete) Tlusty of Kronwetter; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

     He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ethel Kroll.  

     A memorial service for Norman was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Globe, WI. Pastor Nathan Wilke officiated. Music was provided by Karen Hoppa organist. Interment was in the Immanuel Church Cemetery, with military honors performed by the Neillsville Veteran’s Council. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
