MARILYN MATSON (NEE WARD)
Marilyn Matson (nee Ward), 87, of Withee passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen under the tender care of Heartland Hospice.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Family and friends were welcomed from 12 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Marilyn was born July 29, 1936, the daughter of Donovan and Alice (Derry) Ward Sr. in the town of Hixon. On May 21, 1960, Marilyn was united in marriage to Andrew Matson in Curtiss. Together they raised three children: Timothy, Debra and Norbert in Owen-Withee. He preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1990. Later in life, she would move to Neillsville to live with her daughter, Debra, and son-in-law, JD, and their four children. Marilyn enjoyed crocheting, gardening, spending time with her close friends and family and listening to country music. She loved animals and had many pets throughout her life.
Marilyn is survived by her two children, Debra (JD) Lightfoot of Neillsville and Norbert Matson of Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jacob Lightfoot, Jamie (Tyler) Verhagen, Travis (Nikki) Lightfoot and Alyssa (Chris) Lightfoot; five great-grandchildren, Aurora, Emerson, Hadley, Willow and Phoebe; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Timothy; and her brother, Donovan Jr.
