AUDREY SUSAN TROEMNER

     Audrey Susan Troemner, 100, of DeForest, WI, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Oakwood Village in Madison, WI.

     The daughter of Arthur and Elsie (Neitzel) Short, Audrey was born April 1, 1924, in Granton, WI, and was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Granton High School in 1941 and then attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a degree in teaching education. Audrey enjoyed teaching children of all ages and pursued her vocation at schools in Wausau, Milwaukee and Madison.

     Audrey met Allan Troemner at a local dance, and in June of 1959, they were united in marriage. They lived in Madison for a short time while their future home was being built in DeForest, and Audrey continued teaching until they started a family.

     She enjoyed living in the country with their children and spending time outside in her gardens tending to her flowers. Audrey was active in the local 4-H organization when her children were young, and she was also a member of the Homemakers of America organization for many years. In addition, Audrey helped Allan with their small part-time tree nursey and orchard business they operated on their property.

     Audrey will be dearly missed by her two sons, Scott Troemner of DeForest, WI, and Greg (Lori) Troemner of Sylvania, OH; her daughter, Rosemary (Wayne) Shelley of Merritt Island, FL; her four grandchildren, Matthew (Claire) Troemner, Jodi (Jake) Crawley, Mark (Staci) Phelps and Susie (Doug) Vashro; her seven great-grandchildren, Deni (Brian) McDonald, Savannah (Hamilton) Thomson, Oliver and Owen Phelps, Mackenzie, Alaina and Elizabeth Vashro; and her three great-great-grandchildren, Malachi, Atticus and Atreyu McDonald.

     Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Troemner; her parents, Arthur and Elsie (Neitzel) Short; and her sister, Elaine Short.

     A visitation for family and friends was held Wednesday, May 29, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, WI. Burial services were held at Norway Grove Cemetery immediately following the visitation.
