Jerome L. “Jerry” Strack, 91, Marshfield, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner, WI, Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Matthew Lorfeld officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A burial will be held at Forest Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids.
Jerry was born March 31, 1935, in Marshfield, WI, to Louis and Olga (Maske) Strack. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1953. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. He then married Donnamae “Donna” Bauman June 16, 1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield, WI. They had a double wedding ceremony with Donnamae’s sister, Barbara, and her husband, Ken.
Jerry had two careers, photography and music. Jerry worked at a few photography studios until he and Donna purchased the Galstad Studio in Neillsville, WI, in 1965 and ran it for 27 years as Strack Photography until their retirement from photography in 1992. Jerry started on the piano accordion at age nine and the trumpet at age 14. He performed in various dance bands, including The Whoopee John Band, The Strack Trio with his brother, Loyal, and The Bill Chambers Band. He spent the last 25 plus years as a “One Man Band” single performer.
Jerry was a life-member and past president of Indianhead Professional Photographers Association. In September 2004, Donna and Jerry moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI and became members of St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner, WI. Jerry was actively involved in the church council and taped church services for local cable TV.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Lisa MacLaughlin, and son-in-law, Stephen MacLaughlin of West Brookfield, MA; and grandchildren Simon, Prescott, Lydia, Bethany, Marcella and Dietrich Vogel.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Strack; parents Louis and Olga; brothers Loyal and Newell; and sister Lilas (Freund).
