JOHN NOZAR

     John Nozar died April 25, 2025, in Sanford Medical Center, Bemidji, MN.

     John was born Oct. 5, 1937, to James and Betty Nozar in Chicago, IL; and the family moved to a farm near Thorp, WI, later moving to a farm outside of Christie, WI. John graduated from Neillsville High School in 1955.

     After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served his country for the next 30 years. During that time, he was a drill instructor and later worked in embassy duty, enabling him to visit many countries around the world. He achieved the rank of sergeant major. After retirement from the Marine Corps, he lived in Yuma, AZ, for many years and then moved to Minnesota in 2020.

     He is survived by his son, John Jr. (Jenny); grandson John Jr. III (Nicole); two great-grandchildren (Quinn and Jackson); sister Carol (Al) Baker, Spencer, WI; sister-in-law Mary Ann Nozar of Oshkosh, WI; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a special friend, Betsy Kozlowski of Bemidji, MN.

     He will be laid to rest at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
