DEWAYNE GORDON LLOYD
DeWayne Gordon (“Buck,” “Buck Shot” “Dewey”) Lloyd, 90, of Stoughton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Neillsville, the son of Byno and Mary (Pretsch) Lloyd.
DeWayne graduated from Neillsville High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a machine operator for Uniroyal, retiring in 1998.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Mother Post No. 328 and VFW Cooties Organization. DeWayne enjoyed supporting the VFW and his fellow veterans. He held multiple officer positions and volunteered for many years working at Bingo, smelt feeds, chicken dinners, Poppy distributions and much more. He also enjoyed spending time with his friend, Patrick Nowlin.
DeWayne loved the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed attending Wisconsin Badgers football games, traveling to see the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee and Chicago, deer hunting in his woods, especially with his dad, family and best friend, Harley Kinnemon. He loved being with his family. He attended all the holiday meals and especially enjoyed the birthday parties.
One of his favorite memories was getting to go to Washington, D.C., on the Badger Honor Flight with his son, Bob. He especially enjoyed seeing the Korean War Memorial and Mail Call.
DeWayne is survived by his sons, Bob (Mary) Lloyd and Brad (Jackie) Lloyd; daughters Jona (Jerry) Chat and Carla (Eric) Landsverk; brother Ed (Bev) Lloyd; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and second wife, Wanda Cull.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byno and Mary; first wife Mildred “Dolly” Bailey; and sisters Mildred (Donald) Mohr and Doris (Ted) Kopp.
A celebration of life and funeral honors will be held at VFW POST NO. 328, 200 Veterans Road, Stoughton, from 10 a.m. until noon Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024.
