CAROL S. KRAUSE
Carol Stephanie Krause, 79, of Markesan, WI, passed away peacefully Nov. 4, 2023. Carol was born to Ernest and Vivian Horehled Oct. 1, 1944, in Neillsville, WI. She married her beloved, late Roger Krause Aug. 22, 1964, and they had two wonderful sons, where they lived in Neillsville, Marshfield, Sparta before settling in Markesan, WI.
Carol worked for the Neillsville courthouse before her and Roger partnered with JG Hull Excavating in 1974. For a short term, the company then became K&H Excavating, and shortly after, the company became known as Krause Excavating Inc. Carol and Roger purchased the Horehled family farm in the early 1980s where Roger would fly the family and household pets on the weekends to conduct farm duties. In 1989, they expanded their business and purchased Wendt’s Sewer & Excavating. Carol was the office manager to their businesses.
Carol will be forever remembered as a straightforward, hard-working women. She enjoyed her two farms, horses, household pets, traveling, gardening and working in the yard. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, WI.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roger Krause, Oct. 22, 2023; two brothers-in-law, Wallace Krause and Richard Quast.
Carol is survived by her two sons, Allan Krause and Neil (Melanie) Krause; granddaughter Gemma (Colten) Grams; two stepgrandsons, Dulton (Jessica) Schulz and Riley Schulz; two great-stepgrandchildren, Aspen and Waylon; two sisters, Helen (Dick) McFarlane and Joannie (Randy) Schlinsog; brother-in-law Kenneth (Marlynn) Krause; sister-in-law Kathlean Quast; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Carol will take place Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 181 S. Main St. Markesan, WI.
The burial will take place Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Neillsville City Cemetery, Maple Rd. Neillsville, WI.
