JOYCE E. LINDNER

     Joyce E. “Ma” Lindner, 86, of Marshfield, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family with hospice support from ProMedica Hospice.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield with Rev. Daniel Thelen officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to: Christopher and Patrick Lindner, Geoff Lindner, Jodi Hetchler, Jared Lindner and Jenny Lindner.

     Joyce was born to John and Anna (Schueller) Dishinger Jan. 18, 1937 in Marshfield. She attended parochial school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Marshfield and graduated from Columbus High School in 1955. She worked in retail services at various stores in the Marshfield area. On July 28, 1956, she was united in marriage to Robert Lindner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield. Together, they raised three sons. 

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield.

     Her hobbies included “shopping” which was Joyce’s code name for the family which meant going to the casino! Other interests included knitting beautiful pieces, completing challenging jigsaw puzzles and square dancing with her husband. Joyce and Bob loved playing cards, especially cribbage and Sheepshead. Joyce was an astute card player passing on the sheepshead skills to all three sons. She loved the holidays for family gatherings and continued to bake Christmas cookies and Chex mix for all family members at Christmas. Joyce and Bob especially loved to attend all the kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events no matter where and when they were.

     Those who will cherish her memory include her loving husband of 67 years, Robert Lindner; her sons, Steve Lindner of Marshfield, Greg (fiancé, Pam Tippett) Lindner of Marshfield and Brad (Judy) Lindner of Neillsville; her grandchildren, Christopher Lindner, Patrick (Shelley) Lindner, Geoff (Melissa) Lindner, Sara (Trevor) Newman, Jessica (Jason) Brown, Jodi (Mike) Hetchler, Jared (Nici) Lindner and Jenny Lindner; and her 14 great-grandchildren along with many other relatives, friends and neighbors.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Dishinger; her daughters-in-law, Mary Ann Lindner and Peggy Lindner; her sisters, Virginia Pankratz, Marion Mayer, Delores Clem, Florence Kottmeyer, Jardine Strohman and Grace Freeman and her brothers, John Dishinger and Conrad Dishinger.
