     Noel J. Olson, 83, of Loyal, WI, peacefully passed away at Marshfield Medical Center Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Barry Saylor will officiate, and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Christie, WI. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law: Ed Wolf, Jon Bauer, Harlan Hinkelmann, Dicky Bravener and Jason Toufar. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Travis, Tony, Ashley, Jordan, Natalie, Reggie, Tonya, Haley, Hanna, Derrick, Devani, Sadie, Luke, Tommy, Brady, Bailey, Colby, Carter, Cain, Ryan and Dawn. Visitation will be held at the church Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7:45 p.m. rosary service, and again on Thursday, from 9:30 a..m until time of service.

     Noel John Olson was born April 14, 1940, in the town of York, rural Loyal, to Oscar J. and Ermina G. (Simmons) Olson. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Sunny Knoll School and attended Loyal High School. Noel was united in marriage to Maryanne P. Garbisch May 30, 1959, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, WI. They resided in Marshfield, WI, where he worked at Hub Dairy, and later at Land O’ Lakes in Spencer, WI. They bought a farm south of Loyal in 1964, where they farmed and raised their nine children. Noel also hauled milk for Mayer Dairy and Lynn Dairy, and drove school bus for the Loyal School District for many years. In 2002, they sold the farm and moved to a home next door, where he resided until his death.

     He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where he served on the church council and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Noel also served as a town of York chairman and supervisor for 40 years, was a member of the Granton Volunteer Fire Department for many years, was the District 18 supervisor for the Clark County Board, was the director of Clark County Dairy Promotion, was a charter member of the Loyal FFA Alumni and was a 4-H leader. He and Maryanne were also the 2022 Loyal Homecoming Grand Marshals.

     He had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family, watching his grandkids’ sporting events, playing cards, fishing and watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

     Noel will be dearly missed by his wife, Maryanne, of 64 years; his children: Richard (Marilyn) Olson of Neillsville, Robert (Donna) Olson of Spencer, Annmarie (Ed) Wolf of Spencer, Rosanne (Jon) Bauer of Loyal, Melissa (Harlan) Hinkelmann of Loyal, Mike (Heidi Michaelis) Olson of Marshfield, Heather (Dicky) Bravener of Loyal, Bentley Olson of Austin, TX, and Shannon (Jason) Toufar of Loyal; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Norbert (Helen) of Franklin, WI, Donald (Shirley) of Loyal, and Dennis (Judy) of Greenwood; two sisters-in-law: Helen Olson of New Franklen, WI, and Pearl Werner of Greenfield, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Olson; one brother, Norman; father-in-law, Victor Garbisch; mother- and father-in-law, Ed and Anne Blomberg, brothers-in-law, Paul Garbisch and Frank Lieske.
