PAULA RINGSTAD BUSSARD

     Paula Ringstad Bussard, 71, of Houston, TX, sadly passed away Oct. 11, 2022 after a prolonged illness.  

     Paula was born Feb. 20, 1951, in River Falls, WI, to parents John and Marilyn (Jones) Ringstad.  The family lived in Viroqua from December 1952 to July 1956, before settling in Neillsville. The oldest of three children, Paula graduated from Neillsville High School in 1969 with honors. She attended the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and graduated in 1973 as a registered nurse.  After graduation, she moved to Milwaukee and worked at St. Michael’s Hospital, and then as a public health nurse for the city of Milwaukee. She also worked as a nurse in the Army Reserves as a first lieutenant.  

     Paula moved to Houston, TX, in 1978 and had her daughter Lauren, there in 1981. Paula worked as a nurse at Methodist Hospital in Houston for 35 years before retiring in 2016. She was extremely dedicated to her job and also enjoyed reading, gardening and dinners with friends. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her daughter and being a loving “Gigi” to her three beautiful grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marilyn Ringstad.

     She is survived by her daughter, Lauren (Nick) Floyd; grandchildren Alice, Matilda and Henry of Houston, TX; her sister, Jill Comte of Oakland, CA; her brother, Tom Ringstad of Neillsville, WI; as well as six nieces and nephews, and five great nieces and nephews.

     She will be interred Aug. 5, 2023, in a private ceremony.
