CAROL TRUNKEL

CAROL TRUNKEL

Carol Ann (Bentzler, Tetzloff) Trunkel, 72, died in Arizona of congestive heart disease Feb. 2, 2023. Carol was born to Harold Garland Bentzler Sr. and Jeanette Marie (Aumann) Petkovsek Sept. 21, 1950, in South Bend, IN. After living in Michigan and Milwaukee, the family settled in Loyal where Carol graduated from high school in 1969. After graduation, Carol attended the Oshkosh Area Technical School where she learned multi-clerical skills that she used in her employment at various office jobs in Madison and Phoenix and most recently at RGIS Inventory as an auditor.

Carol married John Trunkel Aug. 10, 1991. She loved being a farmer’s wife and the daily routine of work on the dairy farm until they retired in 2002.

Carol spent winters in Arizona, her favorite place on earth. She suffered from COPD, emphysema, asthma, and MACC infection, and the winters in Wisconsin were too harsh on her health. She enjoyed listening to the Beatles, fishing, engraving, coloring, playing electronic games, traveling, riding on motorcycles, driving in the desert and keeping up with her friends from all over, including Arizona and Canada through Facebook. Several relatives benefited from her love of crocheting afghans. She enjoyed volunteering in the Willard area, especially for Polka Fest and the Bazaar, and attending local events.

She is survived by her husband, John W. Trunkel; two daughters,  Rebecca (Christopher) Durham, Chippewa Falls and Talysin Tetzloff (special friend Rob Sheel), Fall River; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Joshua, Tyler and Eva; sister  Patricia “Patti” (Jerry) Sowls, Oshkosh; brother Harry (Lori) Bentzler, Colorado; in-laws, Bob (Joann) Trunkel, Greenwood, Sarah (Jack) Trunkel, Willard, Kathy (Dale) Severson, (Curtiss), and Dan (Crystal) Trunkel, Willard; stepmother Lorraine (Griesbach) Bentzler, Owen; stepbrothers Mike (Sally), Chili, Richard (Shelly), Marshfield, and Jim (Dawn), Marshfield; stepsisters Linda Cox, Marshfield, Debbie (Dan) Koeune, Wisconsin Rapids, and Donna Griesbach, Chili; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Garland Bentzler Sr.; mother Jeanette Marie (Aumann) Petkovsek; stepfather Arthur Petkovsek; mother-in-law Sophie (Goser) Trunkel; father-in-law John F. Trunkel; sister-in-law Judy (Chuck) (Trunkel) Andrasen; and brother-in-law Jack Trunkel.

Carol brought smiles and laughter to many during her life; she died in her happy place with Tally and Rob by her side. She will be missed by all those who loved and laughed with her. We appreciate the support of her special friends who cared for her while she spent her winters in Arizona, Alisa, Sandy and Richard and Jen from Canada.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, WI, with Rev. Stanislaus Michael Antony officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
